Office Reno

Hey there,

I hope everyone has been enjoying this beautiful summer.  We are working away at preparations for our first day of school for 2012/13 Tuesday September 4th.  The custodians have done a great job cleaning up.

This summer we have made some minor alterations to the main office to allow for more efficient use of the space.  Over the years of renovating and increasing the space, the office ended up with two doors and two sets of stairs on the north wall.  This used up a great deal of square footage and served no purpose.  We have eliminated the second set of stairs so as to better utilize the space.

Our priority, however, has been to make it more open and welcoming for visitors.  I am very happy with the results.

Sue Hart will continue on as our Office Administrator this year.  Sylvia McAllister will continue on as the Financial Assistant for Linklater P.S., T.I.E.S. and GISS.  Joanne Kydd returns as our half-time Office Assistant in Student Services.  This year she will be joined by Heather Morris who we have just hired on as our second half-time Office Assistant working in Student Services.

I would like to congratulate Terri Nash.  She has accepted a position at Linklater and will be starting there soon.  We are currently in the process of hiring her replacement for the main office.

Music Students Support Community

On behalf of Mrs. Ableson I would like to share that our Senior Music Class is going to assist with the ceremonies at Joel Stone Heritage Park on June 18th.  The group will be playing “O’Canada” and “God Save The Queen.”

I would also like to apologize for not getting the word out prior to last night regarding the “Sound Syndicate’s” performance at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.  By way of recognition, I would like to share, that the group, composed of Neda Amini, Hayley Miller, Kelly Quinn, Bentley Mabee and Katrina Renwick, performed renditions of “Rolling in the Deep,” “Lean On Me,” and “Waterfalls.”  They were joined by Laurie Rushworth and Hailey Hill.  Free offerings were received on behalf of the Gananoque Food Bank.

OFSAA Track & Field

We are all very proud of Chase Carpenter and his triumph in making it to OFSAA, in this, his grade 9 year.  Wow!  Chase finished 13th in the entire province in shot put.  This is an outstanding achievement and certainly only the beginning of a great high school track and field career.

Way to go Chase!
